Our library is closed and Preschool Storytime at 1pm is cancelled today on Thursday, November 15 due to inclement weather. The Board of Directors of the Parkland Community Library have postponed the meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. and rescheduled the meeting for Thursday, November 29th, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at our library.

Friends of the Parkland Community Library

The Friends is a nonprofit organization that supports our library by making contributions to our library in the ways of materials, public programming, community outreach, and staff development. The Friends raise these funds by organizing events such as our Porch Sale, fundraisers, dinners, and the Annual Book Sale. They also operate our Alcove Book Sale.

Harry Potter Field Trip

WHAT Visit the NYC American Museum of Natural History for a self guided tour. Lunch on your own. Guided tour of the Harry Potter Exhibition at the NY Historical Society.

WHEN: Saturday, November 10, 9:30am-5pm COST $105.00 for adults and $86.00 for kids 13 and under includes bus, driver tip, 2 admissions (Natural History & HP Exhibition) including 1 guided tour (HP Exhibition).

DEADLINE is October 1. Make check payable to Enzo Travel and mail to 3320 Airport Road, Allentown, PA 18109 with a note that contains your phone number, email, and how many kids and adult tickets. Annual Meeting Luncheon

Our Annual Luncheon is on May 2, 2019 at Morgan's Restaurant, 3079 Willow Street, Allentown.

Annual Scholarship in Honor of Norm Dietrich and Alice Madden

Our 2018 $500 scholarship recipients are Habeeb Salau and Tiffany Sherman. Habeeb will major in chemical engineering at MIT, and Tiffany is currently taking library technical assistant courses at Northampton Community College. The scholarship contest is available to teen volunteer applicants every sprint.

Porch Sale

Stock up on your favorite reads and give to our library at the same time when you shop at the Friends of the Library porch sales. Next porch sale is October 1st from 10am-6pm. Rain date is October 2nd.

Book Donation Drop Off

Next book donation drop off is September 27th from 10am-4pm.


We welcome new volunteers to become involved in our activities. Opportunities include working on our Friends Book Sale, fundraising, publicity, programming, and becoming a committee chair. Celebrate a Milestone with Friends

Milestones is a Friends of the Library program where you can honor your loved one or celebrate an event with a special book in our library. Our staff will use your monetary donation to select a title. Our Friends will supply special book plates to place in your books.
