Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Books Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month May 1-31, 2021

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders influenced history on a global scale. Their heritage spans thousands of years and shaped the world we lived in. We have set aside the month of May, and take a moment for an in-depth look at the thriving culture paying tribute to the contributions generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders have made to American history, society, and culture.

“The history of North America is shaped by the stories of immigrants from Asia and the Pacific and the native people of the Pacific Islands. While some of the earliest Asian immigrants arrived from China, Japan, India, and Korea, immigration reforms tied to U.S. civil rights legislation brought even more groups to the United States—such as Vietnamese, Cambodians, Laotians, Indonesians, the Hmong and other peoples from South and Central Asia.”-The National Park Service.
