Get professional working experience and community service hours for your resume! We accept mature students entering 8th grade in the fall age 13 and older.
Teen volunteer positions are an opportunity for you to support the library community, and to gain experience working in a professional environment. The teen volunteer program can be listed on college resumes and counted as community service hours for school, religious organizations, scouts, etc.
PCL offers seasonal volunteer positions of shelvers, and event assistants. We request a commitment from shelvers of at least 2 hours per week for 8 weeks. For event assistants, we ask for 15 hours committed to events.
There is also the opportunity to receive volunteer hours from assisting at the Friends of the Parkland Community Library’s annual book sale at the end of July. Teen volunteers can complete a large number of hours in a short amount of time by participating in the sale. This is separate from your responsibilities as a shelver or event assistant. For more information about teen volunteers, please contact the Youth Services Department.
