Seed Library

As the weather warms, now is the perfect time to start seeds indoors for your garden. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting, the Seed Library has something for everyone. Mix and match your seed packets to create a garden that suits your preferences and tastes. The Seed Library began in 2024. With your library card, you can get up to three free seed packets per checkout. We have various seeds, from artichokes to zucchinis, herbs to wildflowers.

Exciting news – we have expanded our selection to include herbs and wildflowers! Fresh herbs can flavor your dishes, while wildflowers can bring beauty and pollinators to your outdoor space.

We can’t wait to see the fruits of your labor and the beauty that blooms in your garden. Happy gardening!

How It Works

You can select up to three packets and take them to the circulation desk for checkout. Your “checkout” helps us to restock. Remember, quantities are limited, so stop soon to get yours.

Seed Planting with Penn State Master Gardener Steve Frei

Saturday, March 15, 1pm

Kickstart your 2025 gardening journey with your library!

Join us for a hands-on class about planting seeds with expert Master Gardener Steve Frei. Each attendee will receive three packets of seeds and one raffle ticket for a chance to win an Outdoor Portable Walk-In Greenhouse (plants not included). Come and grow with us!

Restocking

Throughout the growing season, new packs will be added through generous donations. Check back regularly to see how you can update your garden.

Accepting Donations

If you’d like to contribute to the seed library, there are a couple of ways you can help. You can donate gift cards to the library to purchase more seeds or drop off extra unopened seed packets you may have left over from your previous gardening endeavors.

History

PCL established the Seed Library in 2024 with a starter donation from Sow Right Seeds and restocked by Burpee with seed packets local to our area.

Partners

Thank you to Burpee Seed’s donations, keeping this initiative thriving for 2025.
