Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with the on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there’s still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends that turn out to be not so friendly. Raina’s story takes us from middle school to high school, where she discovers an artistic voice, finds out what true friendship really means and when she can finally smile.
It’s Not Summer Without You
Teenaged Isobel “Belly” Conklin, whose life revolves around spending the summer at her mother’s best friend’s beach house, reflects on the tragic events of the past year that changed her life forever.
Catrina and her family are moving to the coast of Northern California because her little sister, Maya, is sick. Cat isn’t happy about leaving her friends for Bahía de la Luna, but Maya has cystic fibrosis and will benefit from the cool, salty air that blows in from the sea. As the girls explore their new home, a neighbor lets them in on a secret: there are ghosts in Bahía de la Luna. Maya is determined to meet one, but Cat wants nothing to do with them. As the time of year when ghosts reunite with their loved ones approaches, Cat must figure out how to put aside her fears for her sister’s sake — and her own.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
There is a door at the end of a silent corridor. And it’s haunting Harry Potter’s dreams. Why else would he be waking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror? Here are just a few things on Harry’s mind: A Defense against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey. A venomous, disgruntled house elf. Ron as the keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. The looming terror of the end-of-term Ordinary Wizarding Level exams … and of course, the growing threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Harry Potter is faced with the unreliability of the very government of the magical world and the impotence of the authorities at Hogwarts. Despite this (or perhaps because of it), he finds depth and strength in his friends, beyond what he ever knew; boundless loyalty; and unbearable sacrifice.
