Why should I take the 2022 Winter Reading Challenge

The Winter Reading Challenge promotes literacy in readers of all ages. We’re challenging our patrons to step outside their comfort zone and try books from a variety of different genres and formats. Our Bingo cards provide the inspiration you need to beat the winter blues!

How can I participate?

This year, all ages will be playing Bingo! Fill in a row of 5 for Bingo.

Adults:

  • Each square on your Bingo card contains a category you can use to select your next book.
  • Once you complete the book, write the title and author in the corresponding box. 
  • Complete five activities in a row to get Bingo! Rows can be completed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. 
  • With each Bingo, you will be eligible for an entry into our biweekly prize raffles. Cover the entire card and you’ll be entered into our grand prize
  • drawings!

Accessible options are available:

  • Each square on your Bingo card contains an activity.
  • Once you finish your activity, put an “X” in the box.
  • Complete all the activities to win a prize!

Return your completed card to the library by February 26 at 5pm to claim your prize!

Teens:

  • Read books, ebooks, graphic novels, or listen to audiobooks. 
  • Complete the small tasks on your game board.
  • Log your time spent reading. (Provide us with the title and author of the books you’ve read.)
  • Attend Teen library events.
  • Pick up a take and make kit.

Kids:

  • Fill in a row of five books and activities (diagonally, horizontally, or vertically) to get BINGO! Each space represents a separate book. You cannot use the same book to fill up more than one square.
  • Once you have BINGO, come to the Children’s desk to choose a prize from our winter fun basket.
  • Complete the entire board and earn a free book and chance to win a $25 Target Gift Card.

How do I complete the challenge?

Return your completed card to the library by February 26 at 5pm to claim any applicable prizes and be entered into our grand prize drawing!

Adult
  • Drawing 1: $15 Wegmans gift card
  • Drawing 2: $15 Movie Tavern gift card
  • Drawing 3: $15 Michaels gift card
  • Grand Prize: $50 Dave & Busters gift card

Kids
  • BINGO: Choose a prize from our winter fun basket!
  • Complete board: Free book & chance to win $25 Target Gift Card

Each teen participant who reads 20 hours will receive a free YA book! (Required)

Grand Prize: There are multiple ways to get grand prize tickets!

  • Complete 20 hours of reading (any books you want read)
  • Complete two full rows of bingo 

or

  • Complete the full game board (extra entry)

Bingo rows:

When you complete a row of bingo, you will be able to redeem this for a small prize at the library.

Raffle drawings:

Every other week there will be a drawing for a $15 dollar gift card. First drawing will be on January 25, February 8, and then February 22.
