Library Of Things

The Library of Things is a unique collection of non-traditional items for patrons to borrow. If you’re curious about a specific item, looking to try it before you buy, or have a one-time project, search our Library of Things!

Museum Passes

We’ve partnered with some incredible museums to provide you and your family access to one-of-a-kind educational experiences.

Borrow A Laptop

A library card with the Parkland Community Library can aid you in getting back into the workforce. Job seekers can borrow a laptop for free with their library card and access online career tools. In addition, we offer several databases to help you write your resume, search for a job, and learn new skills!

PCL now has 20 new HP laptops for in-house use.

Dell laptops are exclusively available to residents of the Parkland School District who are 16 years of age and older. Patrons with a paid nonresident card may also check out a laptop.

Seed Library

With your library card, you can get up to three free seed packets per checkout. We have various seeds available, including herbs, flowers, and vegetables.

Playaways, Pre-Loaded Audiobooks

Try out Playaways, an all-in-one, pre-loaded audiobook. They are easy to use in the car, with headphones and speakers. FM transmitters are also available to use with Playaways. Search the catalog under “preloaded audio.” Be road trip ready; borrow an FM transmitter.

Launchpads

These devices are 100% secure and equipped with pre-loaded learning apps. Press the power button and start learning. There is no download time, and there is no need for Wi-Fi. Great for ages 3-7.

Read-Along

Read-along books combine outstanding picture books and non-fiction titles with audio recordings for an all-in-one read-along. Children push a button to listen and read.

Accessibility

Parkland Community Library welcomes people of all abilities. PCL is fully accessible and provides materials, assistive technology, and programs. Patrons may use these in-house items by request on a first-come-first-served basis.
