Read-Along Books

Read-Along and Vox Books

Read-along books combine outstanding picture books and non-fiction titles with audio recordings for an all-in-one read-along. Children simply push a button to listen and read. Our collection currently contains picture books and juvenile non-fiction titles.

No Fuss Technology

These hardcover books come with an embedded audio reader and a jack for users to plug in headphones. The audio reader runs on a battery that can be recharged with the included charger. Users can open the book, press “play,” and follow along with the words in the book.

Narrators are lively and will keep readers engaged. Families can use read-along books to help early or struggling readers learn to pronounce words, hold a book and turn pages, and practice tracking text from left to right.

Donated by the Friends of the Parkland Community Library.

Read-along books are located below the parenting section in the Barclay Family Children’s Wing.

Using a read-along book is simple. Each book has a list of instructions on the inside cover. Press the power button to launch the recording.

Features:

  • Volume control
  • Headphone jack
  • Ability to skip forward and back

The all-in-one design means that read-along books are fully portable. No CDs, batteries, computer, device, or internet connection are required. Readers simply push a button to listen and read.
