Watch Fluff Grow
We adopted Fluff in September 2025.
Use the code FLUFF on discoverdairy.com to keep track of the cow’s updates, photos, etc.

6 Months Update
Height: 45 inches | Weight: 540 pounds
Calf Health and Protection Are Key
Farmer Paige has done everything they can to protect and provide for your calf since birth. Fluff is now in a larger group with her herdmates. This is similar to how the classroom size increased from preschool to elementary school. She will live with these herdmates until she is a prefresh cow.
Diet
She now eats heifer TMR. This is made of corn silage, haylage, and a custom mineral mix that continues to support the development of her four stomach compartments. She also has 24/7 access to fresh, clean water.
5 Months Update
Weight: 360 pounds | Height: 43 inches
Springtime is just around the corner, which means warmer weather and sunny skies for all! Fluff continued to grow big and strong through the winter months, all thanks to Farmer Paige for taking great care of her. At 5-months old, Farmer Paige measured and weighed Fluff.
3 Month Update December
Weight: 300 pounds | Height: 38 inches
2 Month Update November
Weight: 230 pounds | Height: 36 inches
Fluff stays in her own calf hutch for the first 2 months after she is born. The calf hutch is like her own room. She will then move to group pens. Living in her own hutch helps her build a strong immune system before joining a group pen. She gets fresh straw to lie on every other day, which keeps her clean and warm. She drinks 1 gallon of milk each day. Calves are given an ear tag at birth for identification. Her herd number is unique to her, just like humans get their ears pierced.
1 Month Update October 2025
Fluff has grown 5 inches taller to 34 inches and now weighs 156 pounds.
Fluff was Ranked 24th

How Cows & Calves Stay Warm in the Winter: The weather outside may be frightful, but dairy cows are delightfully warm inside the barn! Did you know a cow’s ideal temperature is between 25°F – 50°F? Most barns are equipped with curtains that may be manually raised or lowered to protect against snow and wind. Soft sand or straw beds keep cows warm and dry. And sometimes calves wear calf jackets to conserve heat—much like we wear coats! Check out this lesson with photos & videos to learn more!
