Rebel Girls Club
Empowering young people to achieve great things
Inspired by the book series Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, the club aims to empower youngsters aged 8-12 to grow up confident and inspired to achieve great things. This program welcomes all genders, not just girls. Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls takes readers on an empowering journey, showcasing the real-life adventures of trailblazing women from Elizabeth I to Malala Yousafzai. We will read their stories and explore ways we can find inspiration in our own lives. Spirited conversations and creative activities are always part of our meetings!
New Start Time for 2026
Rebel Girls Club now runs from 6 until 7:30pm

About This Program
The objective of this program is to inspire participants to dream big, celebrate diversity, and recognize the incredible impact women have made and continue to make on the world.
This program can spark curiosity, foster a love of reading, and empower participants to embrace their unique potential.
At each meeting, we celebrate the lives of influential women from history and the present day. Meetings offer interactive activities that educate and inspire. The Rebel Girls books serve as a guide for the group. It opens a doorway to featuring diverse historical figures, allowing club members to see the potential for achievement at any age, regardless of race or ability.
During each meeting, we read and discuss the stories of several Rebels and work on a craft or activity related to one of the figures or topics.
Other Topics
In 2024, we expanded talks to feature the new Rebel Girls book, Money Matters. This book teaches about financial responsibility. We played a board game called “The Allowance Game,” which teaches kids how to earn money, as well as manage their expenses.

Rebel Holiday Concert
December 2025
We had a wonderful evening filled with joyful holiday music with Parkland High School’s Strolling Strings. A festive group of 20 attendees gathered—some were original Rebels, some new members, and a couple of curious boys interested in joining our club! We’ve truly come a long way since our humble beginnings!
Before the performance, rebel leader Suzanne enjoyed sharing stories about two inspiring musicians from the pages of the Rebel Girls books. Then, the Quartet played a lively mix of classic holiday tunes and some current hits. The adults brightened up when they played Bohemian Rhapsody! After their mini concert, everyone got a chance to ask the talented musicians questions. I was so proud of the thoughtful questions the Rebels asked and even happier that they waited to enjoy the snacks until after the Q&A!
January’s Meeting:
Next month, we’ll dive into stories about Rebel Chefs and welcome a Professional Chef who will teach fun, easy recipes and techniques perfect for kids.
Gallery from June 26, Empowering Rebels: A conversation with Melba Tolliver
The Rebel Girls’ June 26 Author Event was truly inspiring, filled with joy and excitement! To introduce Melba Tolver, Anna, a rebel, read the Rebel Girls-style biography she had written. Rebel Suha presented Melba with the illustration she had created. We plan to submit these projects to be considered for publication by the Rebel Girls publishing company.
Melba arrived and engaged with everyone. She was just as interested in our guests’ stories as they were in hers. That’s the Eyewitness Reporter in her! The Rebels impressed attendees with their insightful responses to Melba’s questions and with the original questions they asked her.
We watched videos of Melba from her days in the newsroom. She read some letters she received over the years, but most importantly, she connected with each person in the room.
The Rebels’ preparation for the program was greatly appreciated. Melba graciously accepted all of the posters the club made. She was very excited to receive the “Melba Tolliver…She’s a Rebel” buttons the Rebels made for the event. She even took a few extras to give to friends!
It was a fantastic night of Chance, Choice, Change, and Connection!
